I was told to roll my kites when I first started learning. Then when I bought my first brand new kite I was surprised to noticed it was actually folded from factory and I decided to give folding a try. Since then I have been firmly "team fold" :) My preferred method for 3 strut kites is to fold the wingtips over the side struts and proceed folding the already two fold fabric sheets. For me this is neater and makes folding even easier is various conditions. I don't know if it is just me, but Aluula always looks messier, heavily cringed and ready to break than standard Dacron.

That's all a lie. Creases don't form from packing a kite; they always form when the kite is inflated and bends while inflated. It's always been that way with Dacron and any other fabric

you roll the kite but when you put it in the bag you press it down and those rollss a becomme folds so in the end the result is the same as folding.

I have a d lab juice 15m and a d lab Neo 12 m. I am always rolling my kites …. Never had any issues since 2 years. And I am kiting 6 month in Cabo verde. And the team riders 2:30 from Duotone told me as well it is no problem to roll them ….. they kite every day and should know it .

Let’s be honest for you average rider, unless you are in the top 2% of riders trying double, s and triple loops a kite from 3 even 5 years ago will be perform perfectly and you will be able to progress at a high rate if you have the skill. For year it was just bridle tweaks, smaller leading edges, tiny sail shape changes giving the kites a different feeling. Unless it makes the kite bomb proof and last 10 years looking and feeling new I don’t think it’s worth the insane price increases that come along with all this new tech for your average or even a good rider

One question: how about the durability of aluula... There are a lot of "second hand" sale pictures where the material is cracked.

So, how was your experience with the nVision Pivot? Do you have much time on the Dacron version to make a comparison ?

That's actually the new Macrochip, its a bit longer at 100cm than the Microchip. Also has foot straps and a bigger nose for taxing.

I have been flying Ocean Rodeo Alulla for the past 4 years, as per the instructions in the purchase manual it's best to roll them.

You say create as few creases as possible, but in the video it appears you are creasing each fold. I suspect that any issues have more to do do with heat or uv exposure rather than how the kite gets packed…
